Here is a way to have freedom for your business

A client was expanding their office

The challenge was they wanted to keep using their systems during renovation

Addiontally they worked adjacent to construction zone

In order to accomplish thier wished employees were rotated to various other locations during renovation much like the game musical chairs

Logistics to accomplish this were interesting

In some cases existing network drops were used

In other new and temporary drops were done from teh cieling connecting back to servers

All in all the client’s expectations of being able to work were meant

Client had symbol handheld

The operating system was too old to work with new client software

The instructions on how to upgrade did not apply

The device was sent off to an expert

Seems there is a place under screen to us SD card

From SD card newer operating system could be installed

Handheld works fine

Scanwedge also works

Client had a laptop

While you could access bios it would not boot

Windows would start and act as if it was loading it would not finish

What would pop up is the blue screen of death

I asked the client if there was any data they wanted saved – they responded no

First I attempted to run a utility to repair hard drive and fix master boot record – no success

I booted into safe mote  and copied folder containing drivers

I then reinstalled Windows XP professional

Downloaded all of the system updates

Installed the various word processing and antivirus programs

Laptop worked like a charm

Client had a PC infected with viruses and spyware

The PC was used for email, composing proposals, light CAD and engineering calculations

The operating system was Windows XP

The level of infection was such that email was not working and network access was failing

Further the exising antivirus software was corrupted

Additionally because some of the spyware was running resident the pc was unstable, locking up and using too many system resources

In order to resolve removed spyware

Next I removed old antivirus program

Then I installed a new one which had the added functionality of being able to scan for a remove both viruses and spyware

Perfomred a full system scan

The system now works without issue

Client had a Toshiba laptop

The model was a Toshiba Satellite A665-S6050

It had a 16inch screen

The hindges on this laptop are somewhat fragile

When opening I would encourage you to do so from teh top center so as not to stress them

Also I would strongly encourage you to never hold this model laptop bythe screen – always the body

Finding the hidge was difficult becauseit was either out of stock or had to be ordered from Hong Kong

The monitor bezel also is fragile

Overall I am not impressed with the quality of this device enclosure despite its good specifications regarding internals
